My Day Before Easter Sermon
Apr 15, 2022
Speaking of the Deity most will be honoring this Good Friday.
This is a great time of year for spring celebrations, this Good Friday before Easter is no exception, a real biggie! Of course, the spring celebration of which I speak of is none other than the celebration of the goddess Tellus, Terra Mater, or to you and me, Mother Earth.
That's right, in honor of Tellus on this day each year a pregnant cow was sacrificed and the unborn calf burned in a bonfire to ensure the fertility of the crops. I know it sounds gruesome, but compared to today's fast-food burger feast being held 365 days a year around the clock, one pregnant calf a year is a little thing.
The purpose of the sacrifice was to assure the fertility of the
planted grain already growing in the womb of Mother Earth in the guise
of Tellus, to whom the sacrifice was offered. Along with the pregnant cow being sacrificed, the unborn calf was burned in a bonfire at the wild party afterwards -- that's just how we pagans did it back then.
Another important thing to know is that this celebration was run by woman nuns, or Vestals, and as Shirley Two Feathers tells us on her Pagan calendar: the unborn calf is a liminal or mediating being; not yet born, but living; not a full-fledged victim, but sacrificed. The role of the Vestals emphasizes their importance in linking through the ritual reuse of elements the Earth’s fertility, the health and safety of the flocks, and the security of the city, including and especially its military security against invasion.
A similar spring festival in China was witnessed in 1804 by the British ambassador to China, John Barrow. At the temple of Earth, a large porcelain cow was carried in procession then shattered to reveal several small cow-images inside. These were distributed among the people as tokens of a good growing season. Fowler speculated that the Chinese rite was in origin an animal sacrifice similar to that of the Fordicidia.
Today, we don't kill cows anymore, but we do do something good for our Earth Mother like plant a tree, or pick up some trash. She'll reward us for our effort. Try it and let me know your outcome.
Conversely, on this day of the year in the city of Kawasaki, Japan, the ancient deities associated with sexuality and human reproduction give their sacred blessings and encouragement when evoked to couples who wed late in life, or men like me who suffer declining potency -- but I'm not complaining: I am coming back as a woman, it is a bitch being a man who cries at weddings.

The Sinking of a Russian Ship on this day Means We Are Winning....
In today's news, the Ukraine military is saying that it struck the Russian battleship named Moskva with a Neptune anti-ship missile. This is so esoteric that it has the little hairs on the back of my neck standing up. First, as you may or may not know, Neptune is the Roman god of the sea, and its moons are named for various lesser sea gods and nymphs in Greek mythology. In astrology, Neptune is the psychic planet of ideals, intuition, spirituality and compassion, the domain of dreams and delusions. It is the "dreams" and "delusions" part I find so fascinating for as I alluded to yesterday in my FDR Peace Speech From the Grave post: most of us are dreamers of peace and we can win the fight; that's the "dream" part, and the "delusion" part? Vladimir Putin thinking he can defeat a country through violence and murder. It won't happen. The will of the majority of the people will always win in the end. And the fact that this is news on April 14th is more proof, you see, the coinkydinks from the sea gods are speaking, and I believe they are telling us all to remain strong and continue the fight for freedom, justice, and truth for all. Don't believe me? Open your eyes and read the signs.
ON this day in the year 1588 Spain's Invincible Armada, then the largest fleet in the world, was defeated in a matter of hours.
And if that isn't enough to get you to open your eyes, how about this, on this day in 1912, the world's safest and most luxurious ocean liner, humbly named Titanic, hit an iceberg and went down.

But wait, there's more: on this day in India, Maryamma (or Mariamne), the Hindu goddess of the sea is honored with a sacred festival which begins annually on this day.

Franklin D. Roosevelt's Message From the Grave
The Speech Franklin D. Roosevelt planned on giving on this day in, April 13th, 1945, was a message of hope through science, peace, and understanding. Here is the speech we couldn't hear then, hopefully we can hear it now.
Franklin D. Roosevelt's Last Message to the American People
AMERICANS ARE GATHERED TOGETHER this evening in communities all over the country to pay tribute to the living memory of Thomas Jefferson—one of the greatest of all democrats; and I want to make it clear that I am spelling that word “democrats” with a small “d.”
I wish I had the power, just for this evening, to be present at all of these gatherings.
In this historic year, more than ever before, we do well to consider the character of Thomas Jefferson as an American citizen of the world.
As Minister to France, then as our first Secretary of State, and as our third President, Jefferson was instrumental in the establishment of the United States as a vital factor in international affairs.
It was he who first sent our Navy into far distant waters to defend our rights. And the promulgation of the Monroe Doctrine was the logical development of Jefferson's far-seeing foreign policy.
Today this Nation, which Jefferson helped so greatly to build, is playing a tremendous part in the battle for the rights of man all over the world.
Today we are part of the vast Allied force—a force composed of flesh and blood and steel and spirit—which is today destroying the makers of war, the breeders of hatred, in Europe and in Asia.
In Jefferson's time our Navy consisted of only a handful of frigates headed by the gallant U. S. S. Constitution—Old Ironsides —but that tiny Navy taught nations across the Atlantic that piracy in the Mediterranean—acts of aggression against the peaceful commerce and the enslavement of their crews was one of those things which, among neighbors, simply was not done.
Today we have learned in the agony of war that great power involves great responsibility. Today we can no more escape the consequences of German and Japanese aggression than could we avoid the consequences of attacks by the Barbary corsairs a century and a half before.
We, as Americans, do not choose to deny our responsibility.
Nor do we intend to abandon our determination that, within the lives of our children and our children's children, there will not be a third world war.
We seek peace—enduring peace. More than an end to war, we want an end to the beginnings of all wars—yes, an end to this brutal, inhuman, and thoroughly impractical method of settling the differences between governments.
The once powerful malignant Nazi state is crumbling. The Japanese war lords are receiving, in their own homeland, the retribution for which they asked when they attacked Pearl Harbor.
But the mere conquest of our enemies is not enough.
We must go on to do all in our power to conquer the doubts and the fears, the ignorance, and the greed, which made this horror possible.
Thomas Jefferson, himself a distinguished scientist, once spoke of the brotherly spirit of science, which unites into one family all its votaries of whatever grade, and however widely dispersed throughout the different quarters of the globe.
Today, science has brought all the different quarters of the globe so close together that it is impossible to isolate them one from another.
Today we are faced with the preeminent fact that, if civilization is to survive, we must cultivate the science of human relationships—the ability of all peoples, of all kinds, to live together and work together, in the same world, at peace.
Let me assure you that my hand is the steadier for the work that is to be done, that I move more firmly into the task, knowing that you—millions and millions of you—are joined with me in the resolve to make this work endure.
The work, my friends, is peace. More than an end of this war—an end to the beginnings of all wars. Yes, an end, forever, to this impractical, unrealistic settlement of the differences between governments by the mass killing of peoples.
Today, as we move against the terrible scourge of war—as we go forward toward the greatest contribution that any generation of human beings can make in this world—the contribution of lasting peace, I ask you to keep up your faith. I measure the sound, solid achievement that can be made at this time by the straight-edge of your own confidence and your resolve. And to you, and to all Americans who dedicate themselves with us to the making of an abiding peace, I say:
The only limit to our realization of tomorrow will be our doubts of today. Let us move forward with strong and active faith.
Mr. Roosevelt's final message was prepared on the morning of April 12, a few hours before his death, to be delivered by radio on the night of April 13 to Democratic banquets and meetings throughout the country commemorating the birthday of Thomas Jefferson, founder of the Democratic Party and author of the Declaration of Independence.

The Goddess Diana
Today, Initiates, let's look at one of my favorite heavenly deities, the goddess Diana, for in Roman times on this day (April 11th), it was customary to bake bread in her honor. Yes, like the bread used in today's popular churches, worshipers of Diana broke bread in her honor, and it sometimes had a cross on it too, hmmmm, which is no biggie because throughout history, gods, goddesses, and their ways have been shared. For example, Diana was actually Artemis to the Greeks before she was Diana to that Romans, that's just how the gods and goddesses swing.
Like the Greek goddess of hunting, Artemis, Diana was also the goddess of hunting, and so for luck before the hunt, families of the hunters would bake bread in her honor; if the hunt was successful, the families would sing praises to Diana as they dressed their kill, and that evening, they would party like it was 1999 -- BC of course. Wine, costumes, and if the guards weren't looking, a little toot. Of course, like today there were those more intellectual types who would take mushrooms and veg' out in the bathhouses, but that's a story for another time.
As with all religions, worship of Diana changed over time and so she went from the goddess of the hunt, to the goddess of chastity, fertility, and the moon. Her services were usually held in open-air temples, or altars in the forest. Her followers became so popular in size that she even has an honorable mention in Acts 19 of today's Christian bible, where it is stated that people "...rioted in Diana's defense, shouting 'Great is Diana of the Ephesians!'." Brings tears to my eyes.
The thing that led to the destruction of Diana's church, however, wasn't that she was so popular with the people, but that she was popular with the slaves who could find sanctuary in her temples, and so would not be returned to their owners like the other faiths would do; which, the powers that be, both secular and religious, could not have for one second; this, I believe in my humble opinion, is the reason Diana was never recognized as a Roman deity like Jupiter, Apollo, or Juno -- to name a few.
Yes, Diana was originally the hunting goddess associated with wild animals and woodlands, who later became a moon goddess of the people which made her the emblem of chastity. Oak groves were especially sacred to her, and she was praised in poetry for her strength, athletic grace, purity, distinct beauty, and hunting skill.
Finally, as with all of our heavenly deities of our past, the free and open worship of Diana ended by the hands of the Demiurge followers who raided and destroyed her temples led by Saints such as John Chrysostom in the early fifth century, which was recorded in history as a "peaceful" conversion. It wasn't, it was a violent sadistic act in the name of their god which sent us running to the woods for safety. The place we remain today.

Cybele, Megalesia, and Tesitcles on an April 10th.
It is a beautiful April 10th Day here in Dallas, Texas, and as I do every April 10th, I got up to watch the sun dance in a bowl of water, for on this day each year in ancient Celtic times, it is what the Celts did. I am not sure why they did this, but I assume it had something to do with the Goddess of Healing, Bau, the mother of Ea, who was honored each year on this day in ancient Babylonia with a sacred religious festival called The Day of Bau. Oh, yeah, and Bau was originally the Goddess of the Dog and so a dog would be sacrificed in honor of the Bau, but after the dogs became part of the family, the celebration changed to the a festival of healing because of the healing qualities of a dog lick.

On this day in ancient Rome, the final day of Megalesia was celebrated with a sacred horse race. The Megalesia Festival went from April 4th to April 10th, and was a celebration for the Great Mother of the Gods, Cybele -- ouch, yes, the goddess that was honored on The Day of Blood by priest cutting off their testicles in honor of her love for Testis, as I told you in a previous post. Of course, as with most of the other pagan celebrations this one too was secularized into a sport for the very wealthy, but it still carries the sacred overtones of Megalesia in its title "the sport of kings."
There's where I'll leave you today boys and girls. I'll make notes of the day and tell you what the effects of watching dancing sun light in a bowl of water has on me.

Esoteric Message for April 9th: You Are God.

| Statue at Lin Moniang Park in Tainan |
The Fund and the European Union had decided that Iceland's three hundred twenty thousand inhabitants should be liable for the bankruptcy of its bankers, for which each and every Icelander owed a foreign debt of twelve thousand euros.

Yes, socialism in reverse, which fortunately for us all was rejected by the Icelanders who said: "The debt is not our debt. Why should we pay it? Go f&*k yourself!" I added the "go f&*k yourself, but the sentiment was there.
In this world controlled by greed and Satan's Demiurge Knights, this small island lost in the waters of the North Atlantic stood up to greed and tyranny. Which is made more interesting by the fact that in ancient times on this day, April 9th, Icelanders celebrated the Goddess A-Ma (Matzu). Yes, the guardian of the sea and protector of all fishermen and sailors, and they did this with offerings of fresh seafood and flowers as an offering on their altars, for you see, everyone had an altar in their homes before the churches required you to use their altars. So if you have an altar today, offer something to A-Ma, and maybe, just maybe, you'll catch the Icelander courage to tell the money changer: go f&*k yourself.

"He eats simple fare, but he is a great man." This is a good proverb that we all should follow. When you could have walked for a while but instead drove, your legs began to weaken. In the same way, when we become used to luxuries and the trappings of wealth, we begin to forget simple living and lose our inner joy and peace and freedom.

The Esoteric Value of April 8th.
Ah yes, April 8th, day 98 of the year, 9 + 8 = 17, 1 + 7 = 8. A perfect day.
According to the I Ching, 8 is closeness and togetherness; the 8th card of the Tarot is Strength with the keywords of inner-balance and control; and in numerology, 8 is one of the most desired numbers for it is the symbol of abundance, wealth, and achievement. In some traditions, like Chinese numerology, the number eight is
considered lucky -- so add "8" to your Chinese lucky numbers of "1,3,7" for this year -- which is why 8 is often a sought out number for
special dates in China.
The Esoteric Value of April 8th can be best seen in some of the historical events that have happened on this day. Take for example, in 563 BCE, according to Buddhist tradition, Gautama Buddha was born in the kingdom of Sakya near the modern Indian-Nepal border. Son of the king, he was named Prince Siddhartha but gave up his wealth and position after seeing others suffer, and the rest is history.
In 1861 on this day, Austria grants basic rights to Protestants. That's right, the Catholics decided to be tolerant of the other Christian faith and together they are one -- I think this is a good thing.
In this same spirit of Religious Freedom, on this day in 1994 a group of Pagans carrying placards, banners, and streamers paraded joyously in Gainesville Florida. They praised the Mother Goddess and invited all to celebrate the beauty of life. The focus of this Freedom of Religion Parade was to highlight the religious diversity of the community and to foster tolerance.

April 6th is for Lionhearts and the Mozelle River boats
April 6th, 1199, the warrior king Richard I, "the Lionhearted," didn't meet his end in battle, as might have been expected, but on a day relatively free of hostilities, as he casually walked around the perimeter of a castle in Châlus, France, without armor. Suddenly, a young man fired his crossbow from a parapet above, striking the king in the shoulder. Though the shot wasn't immediately fatal, the wound became gangrenous and Richard soon realized he was dying. It was then, according to a number of contemporary chronicles, that the king did something entirely unexpected: He had the young man who had shot him summoned to his room where he immediately... forgave him.
Unfortunately, the kings followers didn't think forgiving the guy was a good idea and so, flayed him alive.
All of this, I might add, on a beautiful day in France, one where the people held a Boat Festival commemorating the return of spring. Still, to this day, children celebrate this day by making a wish and then launching a miniature boat into the estuaries of the Mozelle River. Each boat holds a burning candle and symbolizes sailing on the "sea of life." Anyone finding a boat may also make a wish while bringing it to the shore.
And with Spring in the air, I leave with this message of love:
Generally, the way we label other people and things as good or bad, handsome or ugly, is determined by desire and craving. We call good what we like and bad what we dislike. These are inventions of our own minds. If beauty actually existed in objects themselves, we would all be irresistibly attracted by the same people and things.

On this day in 1794, French revolutionary leader Georges Jacques Danton is executed by guillotine for standing up to the wealthy 1% bastards running the show back then (The Monarchy). Renowned for his satire, he said things like "The kings of Europe would dare challenge us? We throw them the head of a king!" at the execution of Louis XVI.
Before his own execution, Danton said: "Be sure you show the mob my head. It will be a long time ere they see its likes again."
Danton was a man, yes, a big man. Just look at his mugshot.
And finally, on this day in 1887, Lord Acton wrote the following in a letter to Bishop Mandell Creighton of Cambridge University:
"Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely."

The "Bitch Slap" Heard Around the World as Seen From an Esoterist.
Okay people, relax. Just because the Shirtless Warrior (Vladimir Putin) has unleashed the greatest force of evil known to the world in what appears to be his momentary lapse of reasoning, we don't all have to give in to it. Case in point, in today's news there seems to be lapse of reasoning everywhere. First, a hockey player slaps a puck out of frustration at a referee.
Ouch.
Then a 9th grad high school fight turns Satanic when a kid stabs another kid in the face with a lead pencil.
Fuck.
And most notable, on live TV right before our eyes, Will Smith Bitch Slaps Chris Rock to a stunned audience, in what I call "The Bitch Slap Heard Around the World -- copyright 2022)"
In today's post let's focus on the "Bitch Slap Heard Around the World -- c2022) since it is the most notable. If you have been so deep in your Hermetic studies you missed it, what I am talking about is this year's Academy Award show where the famous actor Will Smith slaps the face of another famous actor/comedian named Chris Rock who told a joke about Smith's wife. It was dysfunctional, to say the least, and as Chris Rock joked immediately afterwards: "The Greatest Night in TV, for those seeking violence" -- he left off the "seeking violence" part. But it was there.
To the uninitiated eye, the Bitch Slap appeared to be one of those momentary lapses of reasoning we all experience in life at one time or another, usually from a few too many drinks at a party, or for some unknown reason to me, at a wedding -- as I learned from my years as a wedding videograhpher, but that's a story for another time.
What we are talking about today are the forces that lie within. Yes, the forces at play in our everyday lives which are more complex than just good vs. evil; forces which are in each of us at any given moment of time, and can appear in us as sudden as a cough or sneeze. What I am trying to say here is that no person, deity, god or goddess, on this Earth is completely good or evil, for there are no absolutes of good and evil in a world controlled by the Demiurge (Satan, to the uninitiated), and the controlling forces of good and evil can come out of all of us at any moment.
In my Buddhist faith we call these forces "the ten worlds," which go from the Hell to Heaven, and can play out in our lives a thousand times a day, a thousand times second, and our goal as good Buddhist is to elevate ourselves to the higher worlds as often as possible -- there's a whole lot more, but that's the Cliff Notes version.
What we saw in The Bitch Slap Heard Around The World -- c2022, was more than the momentary lapse of reasoning of man who had too many drinks at a wedding. What we saw was a man propelled by the lower forces of the universe to act out in their honor. Call them demons, evils spirits, Sasquatch, whatever, it doesn't matter, they are in us all and if we are not careful, they will control us to do things like, oh, I don't know, drive away after real ending a parked car to avoid the insurance cost, keeping that extra twenty dollar bill the clerk gave you back which might cost him his job, removing that price sticker... well, you get my drift. The lower forces are in us everyday and at any moment will have us bitch slapping someone on broadcast television if we're not careful.
On the other side of the spectrum are the higher worlds. The ones that always make us feel right when we answer to them. You know, waiting for the driver of that parked car you hit so you can give him/her your insurance information, or giving that clerk back the extra money he gave you, or, in Chris Rock's case, not bitch slapping back the Sasquatch who just bitch slapped you on national TV. Yes, Chris Rock stood down and took it like an angle. I say Angel for the true angels and devils of the earth are you and I. As John Lennon said, "There ain't no guru going to come from the sky to save you." We are the Angels and Devils of the world, or better said, the avatars that act out in their honor. Which means Will Smith was controlled by a lower force on national TV in an one-act play for you and me put on by the gods to remind us of their power.
Which brings me back to the Shirtless Warrior, Vladimir Putin. Was it just a momentary lapse of judgment that caused him to bitch slap the world by invading his neighboring country and starting a war? Slippery slope? Maybe, but didn't the one-act play also show us the possibilities of peace and love in all of us. On a deeper level I believe it does, for in Hollywood legend, Chris Rock is usually the fowl mouthed comedian answering to the lower gods, while Will Smith is always the wholesome good guy. Which begs the question, if good guys can be bad and bad guys good, can't Vladimir Putin listen to the higher forces within him and stop his senseless killing?
The old Pagan ritual of "carrying death away" is carried out in certain regions of Germany on this day. In celebration of Winter's demise, special straw dolls are burned in sacred bonfires or are "drowned" in sacred wells.
The Sun was warm but the wind was chill,
You know how it is with an April day
When the Sun is out and the wind is still,
Your one month on in the middle of May.
But if you so much as dare to speak,
A cloud comes over a cloud lit arch,
A wind comes off a frozen peak,
And your two months back in the middle of March.
-- ROBERT FROST ( 1874 - 1963 )

Greatness sometimes takes outside inspiration as well as outside aid. Born in Colmar, Alsace, on this day in 1834, the sculptor Fredric Auguste Bartholdi became inspired while attending a dinner at the
home of Lefebvre de Laboulaye in 1865. His host suggested that he sculpt a symbol of liberty. Traveling to America in 1871, Bartholdi saw that New York Harbor was the perfect place to erect his vision: a cross between the Colossus of Rhodes and the monumental statues that lined Egypt's Nile River. Although the French government was willing to pay for Barholdi's grand sculpture, the American government had to ask for public donations to fund the construction of the foundation and pedestal. After six years of appeals, work began on the pedestal, but it wasn't finished until publisher Joseph Pulitzer took on the job of fundraising. Bartholdi's Statue of Liberty was completed in 1886. (The statue itself was finished in 1884, although its arm was not properly attached until its restoration in 1984.)Apr 1, 2022
An Esoteric Look at the April Fools' Day, That Is.
April 1st is here again, happy new cycle! What joy. Ode to joy. One of those rare days we can take our mask off and be ourselves. “Do this in my honor,” said the lord Jesus. I’ll show you where He said that later, but first, let’s dig deeper into this first day of fools, April 1st.
The Fool
We must start with the Tarot, for The Fool card is Zero and represents the start of a new cycle. The Fool is enthusiastic and impulsive, and any lessons he/she learns in this life will make them grow in the next. Yes, I am talking about rebirth, or as we like to say in modern times, reincarnation.
You see, in ancient times, April 1st was the first day of the new year. It was the natural start of a new cycle. The time when life was returning to the trees and flowers, and the frozen ice was retreating back into the earth from which it came. The Anglo-Saxxons called it Eastermonath, for the goddess Eostre, who was the goddess of spring and rebirth. She was also called “Ostara” and “Eastre” in other tribes. The name is not important, for most of the written records honoring the pagan gods and goddesses of the past were destroyed by the Abrahmic faiths as they grew into the Knights in Satan's Army that they are today. Sad, but true.

| Aphrodite |
April is named after the Greek goddess Aphrodite (the Roman Venus). And in ancient, ancient times, after the March equinox, it was customary to hold a week-long celebration to mark the end of winter and the beginning of spring. Yes, the miracle of reincarnation of life that happens right before our eyes every year. This, my spirit guides reminds me, is why we feel such joy this time of year as we are reminded of the reality of our own deaths (winters), which will inevitably be followed up by our reincarnations (springs); time, after, time, after, time.... The miracle that no religious story can top, for we see it before our own eyes, each year; that is, for those of us with eyes to see.
