Acrostic Poem Edgar Allan Poe Knows

Not long ago, I came across this archaic poem that read funny to me.

On the surface, it was one of those nineteenth-century love poems

that makes little sense to us now because of its big words mixed with

our Artificially Ignorant (AI) minds from "clicking now" for anything

that we need, anytime we want. But that wasn't on my mind as I

reread those words several times searching for the correct

understanding associate with each letter. That's when the secret

meaning came to me: it's not just a well worded poem, it's an Acrostic

Poem.

What Sayeth You, AI?

What is an Acrostic Poem?

Acrostic writing is a form of poetry where the first letter of each line, read vertically, spells out a word or phrase

Expert Samples From The Experts Watching Over Us.

This poem is one of several acrostics Poe wrote for the amusement of female admirers. Here, the first letter of each line spells “Elizabeth.” In the following text, the key for the acrostic is shown in red:

The poem was never published during his lifetime. It was discovered by James H. Whitty, who in his 1911 edition of Poe's poems printed it with the title “From an Album.”

L. E. L. is presumably Letitia Elizabeth Landon (1802-1838), a popular English poetess who typically signed her poems with those initials.

Zantippe is actually Xanthippe, the wife of the famous Greek philosopher Socrates. Poe intentionally misspelled the name for the sake of the acrostic. Xanthippe, sometimes also spelled Xantippe, was known for her quick and violent temper. Somewhat humorously, Socrates is reputed to have explained to Alcibiades that he remained married to her because “She exercises my patience, and enables me to endure all injustice I experience from others.”

Edgar Allan Poe: "An Acrostic"
  • E: lizabeth, it is in vain you say
  • L: ove not — thou sayest it in so sweet a way:
  • I: n vain those words from thee or L. E. L.
  • Z: ealous of my despair, you make me so
  • A: nd when I look upon thee, you are my only hope
  • B: ut I will write a poem for you that can last forever
  • E: very moment I spent thinking of you will be a line in this poem
  • T: hat your name will be remembered forever

Sir John Davies: "Hymne VII: To the Rose"
  • E: ye of the Garden, Queene of flowres,
  • L: ove's cup wherein he nectar powres,
  • I: ngendered first of nectar;
  • S: weet nurse-child of the Spring's young howres,
  • A: nd Beautie's faire character …
  • B: ecause the world is beautiful, and the world is ours.
  • E: verything in the world will be better.
  • T: he world will change.

UFO, Mars, Donald Trump Hitler 13 Moons Connection

Elon Musk's Spaceship Now In Space... Really!

Hold on to your seats boys and girls, you are in for an Esoteric ride today. First up, Mars is back in the news. That's right, there once was life on Mars. Who knew? We did!

According to a recent AP post: New findings by NASA Mars rover provide strongest hints yet of potential signs of ancient life.

I've written before about how Mars was the Earth before Global Warming, and it seems we will make the same mistake again and destroy yet another planet with greed, and those with money will escape with the help of Space Captain, Elon Musk. I've linked to the post where I wrote about how the Wealthy Oligarch Climate Change Deniers, must think that they will be able to escape our planet or surely they wouldn't be destroying it? Or would they? In that previous post I called it their "Noah's Ark Built by Elon Musk." You might want to check that out

The news today about Mars was more "evidence of microbes on Mars,"which means life. And so we here at EsotericDaily.com will keep our eyes open for you, because, along with the Life On Mars news, there is also another UFO sighting!

According to our friends at CBS. ABC, etc., in their "Reaction to shocking video of U.S. missile" report, we are shown a radar-tracking image of a U.S. drone missile bouncing off whatever it is was that we were shooting at off the coast of Yemen last year. (Please watch the video version of today's post to see the footage.)

Yes, more UFOs proof, plus more Life on Mars news, equals:  Disclosure. Yes, disclosure is close, and if I may get a little political, we have the right man in office to let us know what is going on, President Donald Trump. Who, as I have recently reported, I am supporting now because it looks like he was right about everything, and as I write this post today, the economy is good, stocks are at a record high, and some really bad people have been deported. So I support this president Trump, who coincidentally, I might add for my Pagan friends, was born on June 14, 1946, exactly 13 moons after April 30, 1945, the day Hitler died.

Is Donald Trump the reincarnation of Adolf Hitler? Very possible; fortunately for us, however, Trump has stated that "Hitler did some good things," and in a democratic country where the people have power, Trump would be a fool to attempt the bad things Hitler did. I mean, it would be the end of the world as we know it, and I don't think Elon's escape plan is ready yet... Or is it?

Black Moon Talk

I've talked about a Blue Moon, Fake Moon, Eclipse Moon, and heck, even being Mooned by a Gargoyle, but I've yet to talk about the Black Moon, and so here goes it.

According to the folks at Living With The Moon, a Black Moon is a rather rare occasion (about every 2.5 years) and refers to the 2nd New Moon in one calendar month

So that's really all there is on the surface, but esoterically, wow!  A Black Moon is seen as a real turning point, either globally or in your private life. The key word here is "change."  And like the Winds of Change Bob Dylan sang about in the early 60's, a Black Moon means change or new directions when it hits.

Of course, the Christian predict the return of Christ every chance they get, which is silly, since they've been doing this since the beginning of their faith, which really has to be a downer, and regarding the Black Moon it is no different, for example, for the Black Moon on Friday, September 30th, 2016, the Christian blog "Express" wrote:

Warning BLACK MOON tonight: Astrological event to herald 'End of Days' and second coming

That writer went on to state:

TONIGHT'S Black Moon could bring with it worldwide destruction and the second coming of Jesus Christ, Christians and conspiracy theorists have claimed.

Of course, again Jesus doesn't show, but that's okay for most of us.

According to NASA the Black Moon is... wait, they don't define it because it is not a big deal; furthermore, the term "Black Moon" only goes back to 2016, because, well, it is only a month with two new moons in it.  Not an astronomical event.

Historically, the theme of events from the recent "Black Moons" or  second new moon in a calendar month between 2010 and 2020 are:

*July 7th, 2011 - Moscow bans the book L. Ron Hubbard Scientology book.

*January 30th, 2014 - French Socialist Party defeated in major upset.

*October 30th, 2016 -  FBI announces it will be reviewing Liberal President Hillary Clinton's email, a month before the presidential election; which gives Donald Trump the presidential election a month later.

*August 30th, 2019 -  DOJ report finding the FBI violated policy investigating Donald Trump in 2016. Pro-democracy protesters arrested in Hong Kong.

*August 22nd, 2025 - To Be Determined, but whatever it is, "Dark Moons" seems to be favor President Donald Trump.

Finally, for the Pagan in us all, here is the Pagan definition according to

Spiritually, the Black Moon is a powerful time for shadow work, release, and deep transformation as it combines and amplifies the energy of the New Moon and the Dark Moon. Whether you see it as the ultimate lunar reset or a chance to plant long-term intentions, the Black Moon’s energy invites you to go inward, shed what no longer serves you, and trust in the unseen process of growth.

Kafka Thoughts

I don’t like to get political, because I know no matter what we/tgey/them/us do in this world, whlight always wins off darkness, eventually, historically speaking that is; but, when I hear talk of invading Canada… CANADA, our friends to the north who gave us my two favorite things in the world: maple syrup and hockey, gosh, all I can think of for some reason are the Kafka writings I read as a kid of a dark world run by nationalists… hmmm…

How To Survive Today's Technology, by EsoTerry

Life Before the Smart Phone.

The ancient philosopher Heracleitus said: "We live their death, and we die their life."

He was talking about our souls.

Philolaus said: "The soul is united with the body as if for the sake of punishment."

These ancient philosophers believed life was not something we asked for and fought like hell to avoid.

Most Near Death survivors who have passed over to the other side, often tell of how they didn't want to return to this life, that the bright light, loving greeters, etc.., was a better place and they now can't wait to get back there.

"I discovered the Americas without a Smart Phone, no I really did. "

The list goes on:

“I think our lives are surely but the dreams
Of spirits, dwelling in the distant spheres,
Who as we die, do one by one awake.”
Edgar Saltus, Poppies and Mandragora

“Life is fundamentally a mental state. We live in a dream world that we create. Whose life is truer, the rational man of action pursuing practical goals of personal happiness and wealth or the philosophic man who lives in a world of theoretical and metaphysical ideas? We ascribe the value quotient to our lives by making decisions that we score as either valid or invalid based upon our personal ethics and how we think and behave.”
Kilroy J. Oldster, Dead Toad Scrolls

“...it had probably been a long enough life. Yet suddenly it all seemed like an illusion, a dream that had happened to someone else. What an odd thing existence was.”
Kate Atkinson, Transcription

“Learn this, as we pass through the portico:
Fear nothing; there is nothing you can know!
And by these terraces and steps that gleam
Wintry, although the summer night is hot,
This—what we seek is never what we find!
Life is a dream, like love; and from the dream
If we may wake, we never find it what
We would; for the wisdom of a mightier mind
Leads us in its own ways
To a perfected praise.”
Aleister Crowley, Household Gods

And finally, Plato's allegory of the cave described life as a matrix where we are all trapped in a cave with images of reality before us, the trick is to turn around, breakaway, and run out of the cave to see what is really happening. Some believe drugs can break us free  (EsotericDaily.com warning: You only need to 'trip' once, and with a Shaman, not the weed-dealer down the street), others think religion can break us away from the cave, and still more, Football, but I personally doubt it.  The problem is, when we return to the others after leaving the cave, they have us committed for psychological review, they don't believe us for they are still chained to the wall being fed a false reality.

What to do?  What to do?

"I evolved into Man without a Smart Phone, no, I really did!"

Me thinks, a hot bath with soft music from a radio in the other room is a start.  Far away from our electronic devices.  For, these electronic devices are the tools Plato warned us about, they keep us strapped to a phony reality, and to escape the cave is to go a day without any of our electronic devices.

When I was a six-year old kid in school back in 1967, I remember a teacher telling our class how lucky we were "for with all the new electronic devices being created," we would have more leisure time than anyone in history.  Today, I realize that lie of "more leisure time" she promised, never happened, and in reality, we have less time today than we ever have. You see, with each new electric device, be it a hand-held calculator, remote-control television, electronic doorbell, automatic answering machine, microwave oven, VHS home movies, home computer, faster home computer, faster, more portable home computer, a laptop, a cell phone, a cell phone computer, a cellphone computer in your ear....

What the f*&k!

Before Smart Phone
After Smart Phone

We have more devices now than ever, and yet, less time.

What's the answer, I don't know, but me thinks, we need to revisit Henry David Thoreau's Walden

When I wrote the following pages, or rather the bulk of them, I lived alone, in the woods, a mile from any neighbor, in a house which I had built myself, on the shore of Walden Pond, in Concord, Massachusetts, and earned my living by the labor of my hands only. I lived there two years and two months. (Walden, 3)

I learned this, at least, by my experiment; that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours. He will put some things behind, will pass an invisible boundary; new, universal, and more liberal laws will begin to establish themselves around and within him; or the old laws be expanded, and interpreted in his favor in a more liberal sense, and he will live with the license of a higher order of beings. In proportion as he simplifies his life, the laws of the universe will appear less complex, and solitude will not be solitude, nor poverty poverty, nor weakness weakness. If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them. (Walden, 323- 324)

A Hot July 26, Inquisitional Death and Aldous Huxley.

On a hot July 26 in 1826, the Spanish Inquisition had committed its last murder in the name of God. The secular arm of the church, i.e., the Conservative/Closed Minded/God Party of the day carried out the dirty deed done dirt cheap for the church since the church didn’t believe in murder. That's the "godly" way of doing things, and if you don’t see something wrong with this, my friend, you are not a kind, spiritual, loving person.

I'll stop there to avoid politics.  Simply stated: on a hot July 26 in 1826, Cayetano Ripoll was murdered for the grievous crime of insisting that the only necessary religious teaching in his classroom was the keeping of the Ten Commandments. Yes, he didn’t think kissing the Popes ring, attending mass, or condemning the pagans worshiping the heavenly deities on an alter in their homes, a thing to teach in school. Yes, Cayetno Ripoll was a kind, spiritual, loving person, and for that, he got killed for being heretic.

Coincidentally, on this day in 1894, Aldous Huxley was born in England.  This is important on an Esoteric Day like today because, in his book "In Brave New World," Huxley warned of a capitalist-god government distorting truth and calling their hypocritical behavior ‘righteous indignation.’  Sound familiar?  Like a group of politicians today?  Hmmmm.
Conversely, Huxley was a mystic who lived out his later life in America where he wrote, ‘Most human beings have an almost infinite capacity for taking things for granted.’ To avoid that capacity in himself, Huxley tried LSD, and he liked it! (EsotericDaily.com warning: LSD, and other psychedelic drugs, unless micro-dosed by a professional, should be taking only a few times in the presence of a Shaman. After a few times, it’s not healthy and can cause physical and/or spiritual death.)
In 1790 on this day the US Congress voted to locate the National Capital on its current site on the Potomac River. The river that Richard Nixon once swam naked in. Don't ask me how I know this, I just do.

July 5th, The Day Churchill Gave Us The Bikini(?)

Despite having been loved for his strength during WWII, Winston Churchill is voted out of office on this day in 1945.  Seems all the returning war veterans knew that the Conservative Hard-Ass was good for war, but not good for workers.  They must have remembered all his union-busting, Tory activities before the war, more precisely his sending in armed soldiers anytime workers threatened to ask for better working conditions or wages.  The most notable was Churchill’s sending in soldiers to stop a strike by the Tonypandy minors in 1910.  This worked so well in defending the corporate elite, that Churchill used it again a year later in Liverpool where two strikers would be shot-down in cold blood simply for asking for better working conditions.  There are other reasons Churchill probably didn’t get re-elected in 1945, the world was becoming less racist and Churchill was definitely not.  This is obvious from such statements of his as, “I do not admit that a wrong has been done to the Red Indians of America...By the fact that a stronger race, a higher-grade race, a more worldly wise race has come in and taken their place.”

Other racial slurs by Churchill include, “I cannot understand this squeamishness about the use of gas” — this was in regards to his use of nerve gas to beat back an Iraqi revolt in 1920.  Then who can forget Churchill’s distaste for one of the greatest men of the 20th century, Mahatma Gandhi, who Churchill considered a “fake” and had hoped he would starve to death (Don’t believe me?  Google it).

Okay, Churchill did probably save the world as we know it.  I’ll give him that, but in a roundabout way, Churchill gave us something men would adore for years to come, because exactly one year later on July 5th, 1946, French designer Louis Reard unveils a daring two-piece swimsuit inspired by the U.S. atomic test that took place off a Bikini island, Reard dubbed the new fashion bikini.  However, this bikini was nothing knew for Churchill, for British women had already worn a bikini that consisted of a halter top and shorts in the 1930's when wartime rationing of fabric saw the removal of the skirt panel and other superfluous material.

So, in a very strange way we have Churchill to thank for the bikini, now don't we?
