vote, then meditate

A wise monk was once asked if the world would get better if we all shared everything.  Would there then be no reason to kill and lie?

In plain monkness, he answered:  'No.'

Simple?

Yes.  The pupil went on.

"Why you say that! What's wrong with you!"

Monk:  "Humans will be humans and can not control anything but themselves.  So just don't kill or lie asshole.  Jeeze, what's wrong with you people.  Leave me alone.  I need to meditate."

And so the monk did, he meditated, but later that night, a new spirit evolved.  More evil than any before.  It had no feeling for others.  It boast of its worldly goods.  It wanted everything, but had nothing.  It was scared but hid its fear by denouncing the things it didn't understand.  And the monk thought:  "Fuck this, I need to do something."

And so he registered to vote and voted.

So vote.

The only hate in America is fake news.

So it is election time of year and you're wondering who's winning?  The Russians.  Here's how:

In 1959, the Soviets created a new disinformation section within the First Chief Directorate of the KGB that was initially know as Department D and later became Service A.   Its staff of fifty officers had the task of undermining the will of government and people in the NATO countries and of influencing potential allies by planting false information.  One of the first acts of the new department was to dispatch a team to West Germany to daub swastikas and anti-Jewish graffiti in several towns.  The campaign was remarkably successful and resulted in a blizzard of anti-German publicity, which portrayed the country as being in the grip of a resurgence of fascism.

Do you think this agency went away after the wall came down and the name changed back to Russia?

No doubt the Russians have used social media in a way to get us to hate each other.  Well, I don't hate you.  I don't hate none of you.  We are all in this together.  As John Lennon said:  "There ain't no Guru going to come from the sky to save us."  And so, we need to save each other.  Face the facts.  There is no going back to a a make-believe Megyn Kelly world where kids can dress up with black-faces for Halloween.   I grew up in an all-white suburb and none of us dressed up as racist with black faces or KKK men in sheets.   WFT!   Who's listening to these people?  Don't you realize that the talking-heads are all wrong.  Donald Trump is not a bad-guy either.  He is just a scared-kid afraid of losing.  It has been his greatest fear in life and why wouldn't it be after having been giving all the benefits from life other than love.

On your way into work today look at the faces of the people you see.  That is the face of America and it is not going away because of Donald Trumps angry mob of voters who gather around him hoping to see a hanging.

The only hate in America is fake news.

I spoke to God this morning and he wants me to say a few things about the current world.  First, for those who think they speak for him... you don't.  No one does, not even this blogger.   The reason is I have never identified myself to any of you.  Not a single one.  Not even this blogger.  For me to identify myself is like asking dirt or sun-raze to explain their selves: can't be done.  Think about it this way; you build a chair.  Can you talk to that chair?  No.  Can that chair talk to you?  No.  The only thing you can do with that chair is sit on it, or admire it, if it breaks, use it for firewood.  You are that chair I created.  So stop thinking yourself more.

The other thing I wanted to say to you is...  nah, nothing else to say.  I'll return you to Demian.

So begins the Scorpions

Today (echo, echo, echo...)  is the 23rd of October which means it is Scorpio time of year.  Why did the ancients name this time of the year after the Scorpio?  Well, season of the witch was already taken.  No, seriously, the scorpion is regarded as "a creature, which has a very tender face to be compared with the countenance of a chaste virgin."  Like women, therefore, it has its beauty and innocent charm.  At the same time, however, its opposite end is capable of delivering a painful, possibly fatal sting, and the creature is, therefore, to be feared and avoided.  Thus the scorpion evokes the same ambivalence and the same quivering conflict of desire and fear.

Folklore also holds that the oil of the scorpion is a cure for the pain of its sting, and the scorpion is, therefore, all the more appropriate as a symbol of the fair sex, for as Hermann Hesse notes in his book Steppenwolf, "Women...relish much of scorpions, for both have stings, and both can hurt too."

And so it is with this time of year when the veil between heaven and earth is so thin.

Good haunting boys and girls.

I Ching

Impressed by the impressed ones I decided to consort the I Ching.  Here's what I found out.  Breaking News at 11.

A wise teacher once said:  “You should let yourself be carried away, like the clouds in the sky.  You shouldn’t resist.  God exists in your destiny just as much as he does in the mountains, oceans, and skies. It is very difficult to understand this, because man is moving further and further away form nature, and also from himself....”

He then pointed me to the I Ching.

The I Ching has served for thousands of years as a philosophical taxonomy of the universe, a guide to an ethical life, a manual for rulers, and an oracle of one’s personal future and the future of the state.  It was an organizing principle or authoritative proof for literary and arts criticism, cartographery, medicine, and many of the sciences, and it generated endless Confucian, Taoist, Buddhist, and, later, even Christian commentaries, and competing schools of thought within those traditions.  In China and in East Asia, it has been by far the most consulted of all books, in the belief that it can explain everything.  In the West, it has been known for over three hundred years and, since the 195 0s, is surely the most popularly recognized Chinese book.

In a nut shell, the I Ching tells us of the hero Fu Xi, who studied the patterns of nature in the sky and on earth.  He studied the markings on birds, rocks, and animals, the movement of clouds, the arrangement of the stars.  He discovered that everything could be reduced to eight trigrams, each composed of three stacked solid or brown lines, reflecting the yin and yang, the duality that drives the universe.

It is an understanding machine.  And here begins my I Ching prognostication.

On October 9th, I consulted the sticks and received this info:

I shook the cup...

Until a stick came up...

And a fortune I took!

 and on that day:

....

And by October 10th everything had changed.  I won a bunch of money and met the love of my life.

Okay, not yet, but the day isn't over.

Look outside your window, feel the ether.  Is there any doubt the veil between real life and spirit life is thin? Is it any wonder witches and ghost come out this time of year?  Isn't this why so much happens is spirit land this time of year.  Since, I for one, believe Donald Trump and his Republican faithful have sold their souls to Mephistopheles, look for them to pull another rabbit out of their political hats this fall, with the help of Russia.  Speaking of which, today in history is the day we almost went to war with Russia in 1963 over nuclear missiles in Cuba.   So fitting that in today's news Donald Trump has decided to end the nuclear band with Russia.  So fitting that the previous Soviet Union/Russian leader, Mikhail Gorbachev, the man responsible for the end of communism, states that Donald Trumps plans to withdraw from the nuclear treaty is "not the work of a great mind."

Yes, the spirits are out to play and they definitely have their man in power.

If you really think this peaceful world we live in is an accident, think again, you'll soon see.

so sayest me.

The Real Trump Argument per Goethe, y'all. No pictures.

If there is a man alive today, with the intelligence, will, and ego,
to make a pack with the Devil...
can anyone doubt who that would be? Seriously.

According to Goethe, it is definitely Donald Trump:

I am too old to live for folly,
Too young, to wish for nothing more.
Am I content with all creation?
Renounce! renounce! Renunciation--

Give over toying with thy sorrow
Which like a vulture feeds upon thy heart;
Thou shalt, in the worst company, to-morrow
Feel that with men a man thou art.
Yet I do not exactly intend
Among the canaille to plant thee.
I'm none of your magnates, I grant thee;
Yet if thou art willing, my friend,
Through life to jog on beside me,
Thy pleasure in all things shall guide me,
To thee will I bind me,
A friend thou shalt find me,
And, e'en to the grave,
Shalt make me thy servant, make me thy slave!

And in return what service shall I render?

There's ample grace--no hurry, not the least.

No, no, the devil is an egotist,
And does not easily "for God's sake" tender
That which a neighbor may assist.
Speak plainly the conditions, come!
'Tis dangerous taking such a servant home.

I do thy service here, agree, but over yonder, thou shalt find me,
Then thou shalt do as much for me.

I care not much what's over yonder:
When thou hast knocked this world asunder,
Come if it will the other may!
Up from this earth my pleasures all are streaming,
Down on my woes this earthly sun is beaming;
Let me but end this fit of dreaming,
Then come what will, I've nought to say.
I'll hear no more of barren wonder
If in that world they hate and love,
And whether in that future yonder
There's a Below and an Above.

Bind thyself to me, and by this indenture
Thou shalt enjoy with relish keen
Fruits of my arts that man had never seen.

And what hast thou to give, poor devil?
Was e'er a human mind, upon its lofty level,
Conceived of by the like of thee?
Yet hast thou food that brings satiety,
Not satisfaction; gold that reftlessly,
Like quicksilver, melts down within
The hands; a game in which men never win;
A maid that, hanging on my breast,
Ogles a neighbor with her wanton glances;
Of fame the glorious godlike zest,
That like a short-lived meteor dances--
Show me the fruit that, ere it's plucked, will rot,
And trees from which new green is daily peeping!

 Such a requirement scares me not;
Such treasures have I in my keeping.
Yet shall there also come a time, good friend,
When we may feast on good things at our leisure.

If ever I lie content upon a lounge of pleasure--
Then let there be of me an end!
When thou with flattery can cajole me,
Till I self-satisfied shall be,
When thou with pleasure can fool me,
Be that the last of days for me!
I lay the wager!

 Done!

Now, once for all, pleasure is not the question.
I'm sworn to passion's whirl, the agony of bliss,
The lover's hate, the sweets of bitterness.
My heart, no more by pride of science driven,
Shall open wide to let each sorrow enter,
And all the good that to man's race is given,
I will enjoy it to my being's centre,
Through life's whole range, upward and downward sweeping,
Their weal and woe upon my bosom heaping,
Thus in my single self their selves all comprehending
And with them in a common shipwreck ending.

O trust me, since I have fallen from heaven,
Have chewed this tough meat many a thousand year,
No man digests the ancient leaven,
No mortal, from the cradle to the bier.
Trust one of us, the whole, creation
To God alone belongs by right;
_He has in endless day his habitation,
_Us He hath made for utter night,
_You for alternate dark and light.

I will make America great again!

Only despise all human wit and lore,
The highest flights that thought can soar--
Let but the lying spirit blind thee,
And with his spells of witchcraft bind thee,
Into my snare the victim creeps.--
To him has destiny a spirit given,
That unrestrainedly still onward sweeps,
To scale the skies long since hath striven,
And all earth's pleasures overleaps.
He shall through life's wild scenes be driven,
And through its flat unmeaningness,
I'll make him writhe and stare and stiffen,
And midst all sensual excess,
His fevered lips, with thirst all parched and riven,
Insatiably shall haunt refreshment's brink;
And had he not, himself, his soul to Satan given,
Still must he to perdition sink!

Sun good for you: no shit

Read this this morning and had to post it as this year's top "No Shit" post:

Grandma Was Right: Sunshine Helps Kill Germs Indoors

Researchers at the University of Oregon set up a study of dusty, dollhouse-size rooms to compare what happens in rooms exposed to daylight through regular glass, rooms exposed to only ultraviolet light and those kept dark. They used a mix of dust collected from actual homes in the Portland area and let the miniature rooms sit outdoors while keeping the insides at a normal room temperature.
After 90 days (because that's how long dust can hang around, even if you vacuumed), they sampled the dust and analyzed the types of bacteria present.

Tell me something I don't know.

Okay, how's about this:

The ultra violet rays from the sun is good for

  • bone health
  • anti-cancer
  • supports the immune system
  • protects against dementia and brain aging
  • good for loosing excess fat
  • essential for decreasing symptoms of asthma
  • strengthens teeth

It's now rained for ten-days straight here in Dallas and I'm loving it!

Conversation With Buddha -- includes swear words.

I’ve been working on letting go of my ego.  You know, the thing that says “I have to this…,” “I need to meet her/him…,” “I’m not successful enough for….”

The happy New-Age definition of Ego is:  The ego is a collection of beliefs and past experiences that defines how a person interacts with life.

Okay, that’s boring as shit and could take us down the road of reverse marketing, when “marketing” is a big part of why our ego’s are so fucked.

So, let’s see what the Buddha says:

You will not be punished from you anger, you will be punished by your anger.

Shit, that’s because I used the “fuck” word in my blog again, isn’t it?

Better than a thousand hollow words is one word that brings peace.
Okay, sorry for swearing, I won’t do it again.

Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense.

Okay, Buddha, I get it.  I suck.

Pain is certain, suffering is optional.

Now you are really confusing me.

A man asked Me, ‘I want happiness.’  I said, ‘First remove I, that’s Ego, then remove want, that’s desire.  See, now you are left with only Happiness.

Wow, Buddha, I think I’m getting it.

Don’t call me Buddha, Buddha.

And so, my conversation with the Buddha ended, or… has it?

'nother weird dream, and saying good things about Trump.

Another dream last night.  This time I was starting a business with a few other people.  It was some kind of consulting thing.  I was overwhelmed trying to get the I.T. part going.  I was also overwhelmed by not having control of others and get them to see things my way.

When I woke up two things were on my mind:   one, I needed to go back to dreaming of being an isolated monk meditating alone trying to achieve nirvana; two:  Donald Trump definitely is not the loser I've made him out to be.  Even with all the tea in China it takes a skill to control those around you like he does.

And so, yes, I've said something nice about Trump for a change.  Something I'll try to do from now on.

And, he really has done something great today.  It’s probably going to increase the cost of everything, but by changing the International Postal Rates, where Chinese (Russian, Australian, British, etc.) countries can ship items for a few dollars by the host countries absorbing the cost the final leg of the devlivery, which is why a Chinese company can ship an item to a buyer cheaper than a local company can, and why you can buy those cheap items on eBay and Amazon from China, will come to an end.

It’s a crazy thing that changes everything.   Deal with it: I said two things nice about Trump today.  Maybe he is the greatest Republican president ever.

Dreamed of a parking meter, ces tout.

So I dreamed last night that I was out with a group of friends and we were going to have dinner in about an hour.  I said I would be there, but then, remembered I had several parking meters to pay.   I went to one of the parking meters.  It was in a junkyard, beside what seemed to be a broken-down ATM machine with old money in it;  I figured the old money was marked to be destroyed because it was so used.   I left it alone.  I started putting coins in my meter but it was registering them.  I began to panic.   "What about the other meters," I thought.  "Have they already expired?"

Finally, I pushed a button to show time remaining.   It said around 70 minutes.  I was safe.

That's when my alarm-clock went off.

So, I'm thinking this has something to do with aging and running out of time.

Hopefully it is telling me my meter is paid until 70 plus years, at which time, I'll have the option to reset for another 40 years.

I'm just saying.

Nightmares

Some say the nightmare is
a horse
that starts to gallop in a dream
and scares the sleeping one awake.

Some say the nightmare is
a sea
where storms have made the waves so big
that they frighten me.

     I do not know
     What nightmares are,
     I only know
     They are.

But though the nightmares come
at times,
they do not come as often as
the pretty horse, as often as
the calmer sea, that bring
all other dreams to me.

Oct 15, 2018

It's Monday, and last night I had a Motorcycle Zen dream where I woke up in this strange place with long hallways and shocked people telling me to return to my room because I needed to return to sleep; however, I knew for the first time in my life, I was awake, and they knew it too, and the yin and yang of it is that awake is the dream part.

This theory came big again after the Matrix movie, where it is theorized that we are all in some kind of zombie sleep hooked to a giant Main Frame of life.   Reality is not true, it is a game and we are never awake to know this.  Life is a big sleep.

The Buddhist monks have known this for years and so we meditate.  For me, there is that moment when all there is is the air that I breathe.  At that point, I know I'm alive, awake, off the matrix.

So, fully functioning today, I go to my news feed and find this:

A fictional painting of Trump and other Republicans now hangs in the White House.

Really, a painting soon to be seen on a Farm to Market Road along with John Wayne tapestries, ceramic Elvis bust, and Rebel Flags.

No doubt I am still sleeping.

___________________________________________________________________________________

If the Republican Painting From White Heaven isn't enough,  Elizabeth Warren had a DNA test and the results are she is about 1/32 Native American.  So, Donald Trump's has disgraced another decent person in a long line in unstaniated lies starting with his calling Jeb Bush an idiot, John McCain a sissy for being captured in battle, and Elizabeth Warren, "Pocahontas" for her Native American clams.

Yes, I am definitely dreaming.

Just Rain.

It's raining.  There's thunder in the distances.  Dancing thunder, the kind that calls you out to play.  It's shouting, "Come join me or you'll be sorry."

"Sorry?" I ask.

"Yes, sorry."

The thunder stops.  The rain rattles against the ground, expands.  It's knocking.

"She didn't mean, 'sorry'," says the rain.  "She meant, souring.  You'll be soaring."

There's a new shot of thunder, like a shot from a pistol.

"Why are you listening to us now, after all these years?" The Pistol Thunder ask, as it's voice fades away into nothingness, only to return closer, more embolden:  "I asked you a question."

"I'm thinking," I answer.  "It is all too much to take in.  I never knew rain could talk."

"We've always been here," a distant voice says.  "You've just never listened."

"That's not true," I challenge.  "I've always loved the rain."

"Ha," says a stream of rain running down my gutters.  "Since when have you loved?"

"That's not fair,"  comes a louder voice, followed by a more distant, "He's only human, we're rain.  Leave him alone."

And the rain continues to speak to me.  And I continue to listen.

We are the same as plants, as trees, as other people, as the rain that falls.  We consist of that which is around us, we are the same as everything.
